GCQ Bucketlist: AUDREY

7:53 PM

Julie Murphy, author of Side Effects May Vary has made her very own feature to celebrate the launch of her new book. She has asked some bloggers to make their own bucket list to help celebrate the launch. Since we have the read the book and loved it, we decided to help out. And bucketlists are fun, aren't they? :D

Her book was one of the best books we've read this year and we would like to give our thanks for allowing us to read and review her book by helping her out this time. Her book will be published on March 18, 2014 and we are free to post our bucket list any time between March 11, 2014 to March 17, 2014. We have decided that instead of posting just one bucket list for the whole celebration, we will post one bucket list each day starting from March 11, 2014 and ending on March 17, 2014, the allotted dates for posting the bucket list.
Today, we will start with Audrey's bucket list. Beryl couldn't do it today since she has her periodical tests to study for and is on the brink of tears trying to understand her math equations right now and Kimi can't do it since she's also very busy with school (or something).

AUDREY'S BUCKET LIST

1. Learn how to play at least three new songs on my guitar this summer. Since I've been rather busy for quite awhile, I haven't had any time to practice my guitar. I now have the whole summer off and have decided to use that time to finally practice my guitar skills (or the lack of them).

2. Be able to play at least one decent game of any sport. I really am not athletic so having one decent game means a lot to me. I can't really see this happening any time soon since people have long since given up on me but you'll all see! I WILL SUCCEED!

3. Go scuba diving. One of my biggest fears is drowning (or any type of suffocation) so I don't really like swimming in oceans. I'm okay with pools and actually love swimming but not in the ocean. The ocean really just creeps me out! I feel like I'm about to step on a weird squishy, living thing or get pulled by the waves of the ocean to the center of it and drown. The fact that one of our teachers showed the video of the surfer ( I forgot her name which is terrible since the video was supposed to be inspirational but I think it might be Bethany though) whose arm got bitten off by a shark in the ocean doesn't really help all that much.

4. Find out if you can really travel the world in 80 days. I want to visit places I've never been to and see if I can go to roughly all the places on Earth in 80 days. I might try to travel in 80 days or just visit places and have fun but either way, I will travel!

5. Go rock climbing. When I was younger, I vaguely remember seeing a rock climbing wall-mountain-thing but never actually got to climb it (or was it just a dream?). I'm not really scared of heights but prefer not looking over the edge of tall stuff. It's one of the reasons why I never tried rock climbing. I was too chicken to climb up the wall-mountain-thing.

6. Be able to make the school aware of what they are doing wrong. In our school, there are millions of things that I would love to complain about but I can't really do anything. When you're in school, you have to be nice and agree to what your school says because otherwise you're breaking the rules. This really sucks so one day, I want to be able to show them or other people what is so wrong about schools these days. I'm not saying that all schools are flawed but some definitely are.

I know that my bucket list wasn't very exciting but my brain just isn't functioning properly! Anyway, this is just part one of the GCQ Bucket List so the other bucket lists will definitely be better. We all prooomise! Hope you still enjoyed this one though!

What's in your bucket list? What did you think about mine? Leave a comment!

Title: Side Effects May Vary
Author: Julie Murphy
Publisher: HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray
Publishing Date: March 18, 2014
What if you’d been living your life as if you were dying—only to find out that you had your whole future ahead of you?

When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, whom she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her arch nemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger and reliving some childhood memories). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.

Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she done irreparable damage to the people around her, and to the one person who matters most?

Julie Murphy’s SIDE EFFECTS MAY VARY is a fearless and moving tour de force about love, life, and facing your own mortality.

Julie lives in North Texas with her husband who loves her, her dog who adores her, and her cat who tolerates her. When she's not writing or trying to catch stray cats, she works at an academic library.Side Effects May Vary is Julie's debut novel. Julie can best be found on her website (www.juliemurphywrites.com), tumblr (www.andimjulie.tumblr.com), or twitter (www.twitter.com/andimjulie).
